Please note: starting time is 11 am CET and 10 am GMT.

About the workshop

SONATA is exploring how adaptive office environments — including smart lighting, movable partitions, acoustic panels and other sensing or robotic technologies — could better support focused work, collaboration and recovery. In this 90-minute workshop, participants will review a short illustrative story about a possible adaptive workplace and discuss what feels credible, acceptable and workable in real organisations.

What you’ll do

You’ll be invited to identify what works, what feels unrealistic, and what would need to change for adaptive workplace technologies to be ethical, trusted and useful. The discussion will focus on practical issues such as worker agency, safeguards, governance, equity, communication and organisational readiness.

No preparation or technical expertise is required. We are especially interested in participants’ professional judgement and experience of what succeeds — and what fails — in real workplace settings.

Why take part?

  • Your insights will help shape SONATA’s recommendations for the responsible design and adoption of adaptive workplace technologies.
  • You’ll join a focused exchange with peers interested in workplace innovation, healthy working and organisational change.

You’ll receive a concise anodised synthesis of the workshop findings.
